Tenses and its types
Tenses tell us the time of an action. They are indicated by a change in the Form of the verb.
There are three type of Tenses:
- Past tense
- Present tense
- Future tense
Present tense definitions
The present tense refers to actions that are happening at the time of speaking. We also use it to talk about habits or to describe a situation that is permanent.
There are a four type of present tense.
- Simple present tense
- Present continuous tense
- Present perfect tense
- Present perfect continuous tense
What is past tense with examples
We use the the past tense to describe actions that happened earlier. These actions may be have already been completed in the past or they may have been going on at some time in the past (continuous).
There are a four types past tense
- Simple past tense
- Past continuous tense
- Past perfect tense
- Past perfect continuous tense
Examples:
- Parveen went to the aquarium today. (Simple past)
- Shagun had decided to join the air force. (Past perfect)
- I was playing with Tommy, my dog. (Past continuous)
- They had been waiting for bus. (Past perfect continuous)
What is Future tense with Examples
We use the Future tense to talk about actions that have not yet taken place.
A verb which shows that an action will take place in the future is said to be in the future tense or referring to the future time.
There are a for types of future tense.
- Simple future tense
- Future continuous tense
- Future perfect tense
- Future perfect continuous tense
Examples:
- Naveen will reach Delhi on Monday
- Ishansh w time next year.
